Welcome to Vocab Flash! American poet Wilfred Funk once said, “The more words you know, the more clearly and powerfully you will think...and the more ideas you will invite into your mind.” (Okay, maybe he said it more than once, but you get the concept.) The more words you know, the easier it is to understand complex text. The better you can do that, the better you can express your ideas and communicate effectively to others, and those are skills you can use every day, in all parts of your life.

So, let’s learn some new words! Begin by looking at the word at the top of the index card. That’s your first target word. Below it, are four possible synonyms, or words that mean the same, or nearly the same, as the target word. Click the box next to the correct answer, and wait for the results. Then, continue testing your knowledge of more words as fast as you can. You only have 3 minutes, so you’ll have to think fast!
